Prudential Corporation have announced they are proposing to acquire the Asian business of American Insurance Group (AIG) for £23 billion. A very large rights issue will be made to cover part of the cost of this acquisition. Prudential Corporation will also be seeking a dual listing for their shares – adding Hong Kong to their existing London listing. RT Group (formerly Railtrack) are due to make a final payment of about 2p per share to shareholders in March 2010. Cable & Wireless are to split in two on 19th March. Existing shareholders will receive one share in Cable & Wireless Communications and one share in Cable & Wireless Worldwide in place of each existing Cable & Wireless share they hold.
